Since 2003, I have edited Ecology of Absence, a blog and website chronicling the ever-changing built environment of St. Louis as well as occasional coverage of Chicago, Peoria and other cities. I live in the Old North St. Louis neighborhood of St. Louis, which lost over half of its building stock between 1960 and 1990. My neighborhood is an interesting place to watch St. Louis adapt to postindustrial life. Professionally, I serve as Assistant Director of Landmarks association of St. Louis, an organization dedicated to promoting historic preservation, sound planning and quality contemporary design.
