Promoting America's Urban Frontier

This sculpture is probably the most well-known piece of public art in Erie, Pa. It is titled "Eternal Vigilance" and sits on the front steps of the Erie Art Museum in all kinds of weather. Sometimes kind folks even put hats and scarfs on him in bad weather.

It definitely is not my favorite, but today the play of light and shadow gave it a very emotional feeling.

Thanks for posting, I didn't even realize that Erie had an art museum. This is a very interesting sculpture. The dusting of snow definitely adds to the piece for me.
